Next Generation Reforestation Ltd. was established in 1984 by Cathy Newhook and Gordon Sheepwash. Their son Will, born shortly after Next Gen, is now involved in its running as well. With over 25 years of reforestation expertise each, and a deep appreciation of the importance of forest management, Cathy and Gordon are dedicated to providing quality silviculture services. Their extensive knowledge, experience and commitment to building and maintaining an experienced staff contribute to the success of their business.
As a company, Next Gen has a big family feel. We strive to both provide quality tree planting services to our valued clients and provide a respectful, quality work environment for our valued planters and employees. Next Gen offers a respectful atmosphere, wonderful food and a long season.
For the 2020 season, we are striving for improving communication with employees and clarity in general. Tree planting has a reputation for smoke and mirrors, Next Gen wants to change that.
We are working to make planting better for planters – pushing for higher piece rates and eliminated camp cost while maintaining food quality. In order to manage costs, measures like ordering whole cows from the farm next to Gord & Cathy’s were taken. They were more humane, government inspected and cost effective. Elimination of camp costs finally aligns with all other remote-based industries and we are proud to be one of the first companies to be able offer this.
A medium company, we have four main camps and a handful of satellite projects. We are mainly based out of bush camps, however most crews have a couple weeks of motel work as well.
We work mainly in remote bush camps, in central BC and Northern Alberta, providing competitive prices, excellent food and fantastic reliable hot showers.
We look forward to hearing from you!
